DUE TO UNPRECEDENTED DEMAND DURAN DURAN ANNOUNCE EXTRA UK SHOWS

THAT WILL MARK THE END OF THEIR TWO YEAR ‘ASTRONAUT’ WORLD TOUR

GLASGOW & BIRMINGHAM DATES ADDED!

In the last four years Duran Duran have been honoured with no less than five major Lifetime Achievement awards: from Q Magazine, The Brits, MTV, the Ivor Novello’s, and the Spanish Onda’s. Their album “Astronaut” entered the album charts at #3 in the UK and has received critical acclaim across the globe. Their 2004 UK tour saw them performing to 240,000 people. Elsewhere, around the world, they have played to 3.5 million fans. On July 2nd, the original line up of Simon LeBon, Nick Rhodes, John Taylor, Roger Taylor and Andy Taylor proudly performed at Live 8 in Rome in front of hundreds of thousands of people and a TV audience of more than one billion.

Now, as they head towards the home stretch of their two year ‘Astronaut World Tour’ their popularity sees no sign of diminishing. Today (Monday 11th July) Duran Duran announced two additional UK Christmas shows: at Glasgow’s SECC on Friday 16th December and Birmingham’s NEC on Saturday 17th December. Both dates will precede the band’s already confirmed gigs at Manchester’s MEN on December 18th and London’s Earls Court on Tuesday 21st December, which are on sale now. The forthcoming UK shows will be the last in a highly successful two year world tour, in a support of their most recent album – ‘Astronaut’ (on Epic Records).

A pre sale for members of the Duran Duran fan community at www.duranduranmusic.com will take place at 09:00am (UK GMT) on Thursday 14th July 2005. Tickets for the Birmingham NEC and Glasgow SECC shows will then go on sale to the general public on Friday 15th July 2005 at 09:00am.

Tickets are priced at £27.50, £32.50 and £40.00 each and will be available by calling the Birmingham NEC box office on 0870 909 4133 and the Glasgow SECC box office on0870 040 4000 or via the web at www.getlive.co.uk and www.gigsandtours.com

Tickets for London Earls Court and Manchester MEN Arena shows are available at 0870-400-0688 and 0871-220-0260 or via the web at www.getlive.co.uk and www.gigsandtours.com

Commenting on their two year world tour, singer Simon LeBon said; “This tour – our first back together in more than twenty years - has been the most amazing experience for us all. We had forgotten how magical it is for us when the five of us get on stage together. In all the time we were apart we were never able to recreate that same chemistry. Since we started out in the UK early in 2004, we’ve played in 22 different countries – to both new fans and those who have been with us since we first started. Recently, we were lucky enough to be part of the Live 8 event – when we played at the Circus Maximus in Rome to a quarter of a million people. This week, we’re off to the States, for another month, before flying to Japan for two massive festival shows. We wanted to finish the tour in the UK – as for us, in so many ways, this is where it all began. Our British fans are always the best and we can’t think of a better way to cap off both the tour and this year.”
